Domain Name Policy Announcement

The State of California announced new policies on 5/25/17 that govern the use of the “ca.gov” internet domain name.  As a result, State Administrative Manual (SAM) Sections 5195, 5195.1, and 5195.2 include new criteria for “ca.gov” internet domain name usage.  Additionally, Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) Section 40A identifies instructions for managing the registration, change, and re-certification of “ca.gov” internet domains to help Web Administrators comply with the new requirements.

An online Domain Name Request system was also released to manage all “ca.gov” internet domains. It enables Web Administrators to view/update contact information, add users, and delete any outdated information.
